PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Noah Kinsman (ranked 3836 p4p, 6075 weight class) and Gatis Ginters (ranked 416 p4p, 489 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Noah Kinsman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gatis Ginters!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kinsman throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Ginters ducks under a wild hook from Kinsman.
Kinsman misses with the combination.
A punch combination from Kinsman misses.
Ginters drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kinsman defends it well.
Kinsman misses with a straight right.
Ginters lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Ginters has managed to clinch.

Ginters lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ginters prevents Kinsman from improving his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kinsman is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Ginters looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kinsman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Ginters is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Kinsman has a hand on Ginters's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Ginters takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Ginters can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kinsman is looking to escape.

Kinsman tries to reverse the position but Ginters maintains control.

Ginters working for a guillotine from mount but Kinsman is in no mood to give up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ginters gets his hands free as Kinsman looks to control.

Ginters lands a big shot there that rocks Kinsman but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Kinsman is squirming around, avoiding Ginters's attempts to control the action.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ginters lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Ginters manages to capitalize on a mistake by Kinsman to take his back!

Ginters looking to break Kinsman's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Kinsman remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Ginters will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Ginters is taking a breather. Kinsman says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Kinsman wants to control but Ginters is having none of it.

Gatis Ginters showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Noah Kinsman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kinsman throws a nice looking combination but Ginters bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Ginters manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kinsman on his heels. He'll look to pass Kinsman's guard now, I'm sure.

Kinsman is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Kinsman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ginters postures up and lands a big shot to Kinsman's brow.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ginters pushes Kinsman up against the cage in a clinch.

Kinsman thumps Ginters with a low kick.

Kinsman swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Ginters takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

It looks like Gatis Ginters has been cut.
Kinsman misses with a double jab.
Kinsman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ginters feints a counter leg kick.

Ginters shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ginters is stalling in the full guard.
Ginters's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Kinsman keeping moving, preventing Ginters from controlling successfully.
Kinsman looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Kinsman throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Kinsman looking for a sweep. Not yet Kinsman, not yet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Kinsman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ginters gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ginters.

Gatis Ginters has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ginters remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Ginters working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Noah Kinsman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gatis Ginters is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

I would just about give that final round to Gatis Ginters.
