Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Dalton (ranked 2025 p4p, 2825 weight class) and Aeson Beckley (ranked 177 p4p, 238 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Dalton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aeson Beckley!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurstrm, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dalton shoots and misses
and Beckley counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Beckley gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dalton to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Dalton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Dalton is working Beckley over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Beckley is adopting a defensive guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Dalton shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Beckley as he avoids it easily.

Dalton shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Dalton was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Beckley is trying to buck Dalton off.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dalton creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Beckley sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Beckley bucks up and tries to throw Dalton off but instead Dalton has got his back!
Beckley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dalton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

I really don't envy Beckley right now.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Dalton goes for a double leg but Beckley avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Beckley continues to drive forward.

Dalton gets control of Beckley's arms and successfully pulls guard. Dalton will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Beckley would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Beckley must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Dalton has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Beckley is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Dalton.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dalton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Beckley is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Dalton dives into side control.

Dalton manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Beckley manages to get himself to full guard.

Aeson Beckley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Beckley is working to avoid the ground and pound but Dalton connects with a decent elbow.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dalton, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
