PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Zeal (ranked 4061 p4p, 5900 weight class) and Gabriel Scott (ranked 491 p4p, 563 weight class). Zeal comes to the cage accompanied by War eye. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Zeal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gabriel Scott!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Zeal changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Scott moves into the clinch.
Scott prevents the takedown attempt.
The referee is keeping an eye on Scott - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Zeal goes for a takedown attempt but Scott pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Scott closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scott cracks Zeal with an elbow. That is naaassty.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Scott takes a little break here. Zeal wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Zeal manages to work his way to half guard, despite Scott's best efforts.
Zeal is looking for a sweep. Scott is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Zeal is working hard here to advance position.
Zeal has a hand on Scott's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Scott takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Scott trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Scott has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Zeal's face.

Scott looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Zeal looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zeal is looking to improve his position but Scott isn't that keen on the idea.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zeal knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Scott on the ground.
Scott working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Zeal is in all sorts of trouble here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Scott has control of Zeal's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Zeal regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Scott trying to control but he's not successful this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Zeal tries to reverse the position but Scott maintains control.
Zeal looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Zeal tries to break free.

Scott is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Zeal has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Zeal is really stuck here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Zeal tries to escape the position.
Zeal might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The referee is taking a good look at Zeal as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Scott!

Scott working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Zeal is in bad spot here.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Zeal is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Scott gets his way!

Zeal tries to escape the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gabriel Scott dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Scott clinches with his opponent.
Scott fails to pull guard.
Scott wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Zeal has him pressed against the cage.

Scott pulls guard effortlessly.
Zeal distracts Scott with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Zeal is working Scott over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Scott has his hands on Zeal's head, controlling the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zeal working some strikes from top position.
Zeal postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Zeal scoring with punches to the head and body.
Zeal scoring with some ground and pound.
Zeal wants to control from the top but Scott keeps moving.
Scott has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Zeal lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Scott is rocked!
Scott is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Zeal stopping the sweep attempt from Scott.
Zeal loads up on a big left hand. Scott felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Zeal looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Scott can't hide his disappointment, as Zeal celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris Zeal!
