Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ray Cartier (ranked 3463 p4p, 6113 weight class) and Nik Fox (ranked 122 p4p, 537 weight class). Nik Fox will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Cartier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nik Fox!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fox comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Fox displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cartier.
Cartier shoots in for a takedown but Fox shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
We've been hearing reports that Cartier has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Fox tries to clinch there but Cartier circles away.
Cartier attempts a counter takedown but Fox avoids it well and moves away.

Cartier shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cartier showed some decent athleticism there.
Fox trying to control but Cartier postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fox moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cartier wants to control from the top but Fox keeps moving.

Cartier throws a big elbow that misses.
Cartier postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Cartier trying to control but Fox is working from the bottom.
Fox working a defensive guard here.
Cartier loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Fox is looking to stand up but Cartier isn't so interested in that idea.
Cartier distracts Fox with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Fox avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Cartier postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Cartier engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cartier connects with a couple of short punches.
Cartier's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Fox is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cartier working some strikes from top position.
Cartier sitting in guard here, content to control.
Cartier seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fox for as long as he can get away with.
Cartier lands a couple of elbows.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cartier scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Fox working a defensive guard but Cartier passes into half guard.
Cartier seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Fox looks winded!

Cartier is looking for a kimura but Fox is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cartier to get the leverage.
Cartier is nestled in close to Fox, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Fox wants to control but Cartier is keeping busy.

Cartier seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Fox is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
