This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 34 wins and 21 losses; Bogdan Kersikov! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 26 wins and 23 losses; Marc Read! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Josh West.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Read forces Kersikov back against the cage and clinches. Read tries for a takedown. No joy.
Read has Kersikov pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Kersikov manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Read is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Bogdan Kersikov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marc Read. Kersikov gets underhooks to prevent Read's takedown attempt.
Kersikov manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Read engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Read pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kersikov is keeping the position for now. Read wants to control from the top but Kersikov keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Read is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Read not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Read stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kersikov swivels though and keeps the full guard. Read stays in close to Kersikov's body and controls the position. Read trying to control the position from guard on top but Kersikov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Read pushes down on Kersikov's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kersikov is looking to control Read's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kersikov avoid being mounted? Read is stalling here. Kersikov is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Read seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kersikov has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Kersikov (4) vs (0) Read Kersikov is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Read's shoulder. That is not cool. Read is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Read is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Kersikov is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Score +2 for reaching mount: Kersikov (6) vs (0) Read Read is trying desperately to improve position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Read sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Kersikov works his way into full mount! Score +3 for passing guard: Kersikov (9) vs (0) Read Read is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Kersikov is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Read is in real trouble.

Read trying to control the hands but Kersikov won't let him. Kersikov controls the position. Kersikov's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. We've been hearing good reports from Kersikov's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Kersikov has one arm under Read 's neck. Read is controlling the other arm well. He's just looking to survive right now. Kersikov manages to get his arm free though and Read is in a world of trouble! Kersikov sinks in the hooks and squeezes! Read turns purple and then goes limp. The referee steps in to end the bout!
