Vermicelli comes to the cage accompanied by Gonna Fly Now. The key to victory for John Vermicelli has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vermicelli gets tackled into the cage by Flex. Flex maintains the clinch.
Vermicelli is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Flex is trying to pull guard but Vermicelli has him pressed against the cage.
Flex avoiding damage as Vermicelli throws knees to the body.
Flex tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Vermicelli just stands there and leans against the cage.
Vermicelli swings wildly with an uppercut but Flex uses good head movement to avoid it.
Vermicelli can't find room to land a body shot as Flex controls the action.

Flex working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vermicelli doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vermicelli manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Flex escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Vermicelli gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Flex has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Vermicelli doesn't defend quickly enough and Flex has managed to lock this one up! Can Vermicelli escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Flex on a fantastic submission victory.
