PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gary McField (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Conrad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McField comes into the arena with Foo Fighters - My Hero blaring out of the sound system. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McField misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Conrad gets the takedown into side control.
McField can't do much from the bottom here.
Conrad tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
McField pushes Conrad away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Conrad gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Conrad jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… McField is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by McField and Conrad has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

McField throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Conrad escapes and throws McField's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Conrad remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Conrad shoots for a double leg takedown but McField sprawls well. He's pushed Conrad's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
