Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Jaxon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gordon Jones! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Jaxon. Jaxon lands a jab to the nose. Jaxon jabbing away but nothing is landing. Jaxon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jaxon wants it to stay on the feet. Jones bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. And Jones tries to counter it with a takedown but Jaxon pushes his down on his head and steps out. Jaxon tries to grapple but his opponent circles so Jones counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Jaxon keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jaxon can't keep his opponent in guard - Jones advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Jaxon is trying to maintain the position but Jones is very close to passing his half guard. Jones seems to be looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jaxon flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Jaxon blocking the ground and pound attempt from Jones. Jones not landing any meaningful shots this time. Jones is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jaxon defends it well. Jones seems to be working for a kimura but Jaxon defends the submission attempt. Jaxon tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Jaxon is looking to improve his position.
Jones is trying for a kimura here. Jaxon looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Jones wins by kimura!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Gordon Jones! Gordon Jones decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
