The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

rippa closes the distance and clinches.
Bancroft tries for a takedown. No joy.
rippa tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bancroft just stands there and leans against the cage.
rippa gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bancroft.

rippa has picked Bancroft up - he's going for a ride! rippa dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
rippa wants to free his trapped foot but Bancroft is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Bancroft wants to get back to full guard.

rippa stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Bancroft to get to his feet.
rippa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bancroft as he jumps to the side.
Bancroft connects with a solid leg kick.

and rippa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

rippa manages to capitalize on a mistake by Bancroft to take his back!
rippa tries to get the hooks in deep but Bancroft pushed the leg off.
rippa punishes Bancroft with strikes from the back mount.

Despite being in the dominant position, ryan rippa just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
