Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Willie Dixon (ranked 2207 p4p, 2315 weight class) and Nico Ressler (ranked 128 p4p, 138 weight class). Nico Ressler will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Willie Dixon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nico Ressler! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Winston Alpacca and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ressler connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Dixon looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Ressler! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ressler is looking to reverse the position. Dixon misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Ressler is not content to let Dixon control the position. Dixon is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ressler is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. You can see the frustration on Ressler's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Dixon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ressler keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dixon tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dixon has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Ressler being controlled for a moment. Ressler is not content to let Dixon control the position. Dixon gets to mount! Ressler was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. We've been hearing good reports from Dixon's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Dixon wants to take Ressler's back here but Ressler is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ressler is wriggling around trying to escape.
Ressler wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Dixon is riding his opponent, not letting Ressler buck him off. Ressler tries to escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ressler defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard. Dixon trying to control the position here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Ressler is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Dixon looking to control.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ressler won't allow Dixon to sweep him here.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Willie Dixon dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ressler dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Ressler wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Ressler is looking to take this fight into the clinch. As Ressler tries to get set, Dixon tries to push him back and clinch up but Ressler manages to avoid the attempt. Ressler fails in his attempt to clinch. Ressler sizes up Dixon with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Dixon with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ressler to score with a decent uppercut. Ressler lands a really nice looking cross but Dixon seems unphased.
Nice cross by Ressler. Dixon tries to move into range but Ressler moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Dixon fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ressler to the ground. Dixon is now in Ressler's guard. Dixon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Dixon content to stall in guard here. Ressler wants to sweep but no luck.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dixon wants to control from the top but Ressler keeps moving. Dixon is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ressler is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Ressler utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Ressler wants to sweep here but Dixon controlling him for the moment. Dixon controls from within his opponent's guard. Ressler is trying to control the position but Dixon postures up.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Nico Ressler is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Ressler looks to land a right hand but Dixon moved out of range. Ressler throws a left and a right that both miss

Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Dixon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Dixon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Willie Dixon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Ressler controls Dixon momentarily but Dixon frees himself.

so Dixon counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dixon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Ressler is trying to control the position but Dixon postures up. Dixon won't allow Ressler to sweep him here. Dixon controlling from the top position.

Dixon is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ressler is just riding it out for now. Dixon eventually gives up the hold. Dixon looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Nico Ressler will probably get the nod - 10:9. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round! Ressler looks to land a left hand but Dixon moved out of range nicely. Ressler gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Dixon trying to stall but Ressler improves his position.

Dixon can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Dixon content to slow the pace in the clinch.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Willie Dixon. Dixon shoots in and bounces Ressler off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ressler is on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Dixon wants to sweep here but Ressler controlling him for the moment. Ressler wants to pass the guard but Dixon is keeping the position. Dixon keeping moving, preventing Ressler from controlling successfully. Dixon is trying to keep Ressler in close.

Ressler manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Dixon controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Ressler working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dixon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dixon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Dixon trying to control but Ressler is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ressler wants to control but Dixon passes easily into half guard.
Ressler has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Ressler is looking for a sweep. Dixon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Dixon is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Dixon is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ressler doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dixon. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ressler is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Dixon's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Dixon's back!
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Nico Ressler. I think Ressler has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
