PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Evan Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and tony jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Green comes into the arena with Six blaring out of the sound system. jackson has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. tony jackson will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Evan Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, tony jackson!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Green connects with a good right hand that stumbles jackson. jackson circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

jackson has closed the distance and engaged Green in a clinch.
jackson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Green.
Green has a couple of punches blocked by jackson.
jackson scores with a knee to the head.


It looks like Evan Green has been cut.

Green has picked jackson up - he's going for a ride! Green dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
jackson is not content to let Green control the position.
Green throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Green is working for a kimura but jackson is defending it quite comfortably.

Green looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Green wants to lay and pray for a moment but jackson keeps working.

jackson is trying to stand back up but Green is controlling him
Green looks to land a strike but jackson avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Green stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Green is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Green trying to control but jackson is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Green is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because jackson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Green stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
jackson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Green's guard.
Green throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Green kicks jackson off and gets to his feet.

Green pulls out of a head kick attempt.
jackson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Green but Green pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Green shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Green showed some decent athleticism there.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Green is looking for a kimura here.

Green tries to pass the half guard into mount. jackson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Green clinches up with jackson and pushes him back against the cage.

jackson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and jackson manages to end up in side control.
Green is trying to control jackson's posture but jackson avoids it.
Green is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Green is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked jackson off and has taken his back!

Green is persistently looking for the submission but jackson is defending it well.

jackson trying to control the action but Green just sinks the hooks in.

Green is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. jackson defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Green is riding his opponent, not letting jackson buck him off.
jackson manages to escape to a better position under a series of strikes. Green is now in side control.

jackson tries to buck Green off but Green is having none of it.
jackson looking for a sweep but Green has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Evan Green overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Green looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Green misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Green jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but jackson manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Green wants to control but jackson is keeping him busy.

and Green counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Green.
Green tries to free his leg and advance position but jackson is retaining full guard.

Green is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! jackson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! jackson has escaped and now he's on top!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Green lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for jackson!

jackson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Green has control of jackson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and jackson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Green takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

jackson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

jackson tries to improve his position but Green has taken his back! Green has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will jackson tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Green pushes jackson away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
