It looks like Richard Head has been cut. Head moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Donk. Gage catches Head right on the button with a cross. Head gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Gage lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Gage throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Head got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gage has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Head has managed to get both his arms back between Gage's legs - danger averted. We've been hearing good reports from Gage's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Gage pushes a forearm under Head's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Head is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Nick Gage!
