The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Archibald keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Archibald feinted with a counter takedown.
Archibald connects with a body shot.
Archibald looks to score with a jab to the body but Rodriguez is just out of range.
Rodriguez misses with a straight left.
Rodriguez throws a body punch but Archibald moves out of range.
Archibald swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Rodriguez shoots for a takedown but Archibald saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Rodriguez misses the target.
Archibald is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Archibald tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rodriguez swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Rodriguez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Archibald's guard.

Archibald knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rodriguez on the ground.
Rodriguez slips a nice elbow through Archibald's hands, connecting with Archibald's forehead.

Rodriguez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rodriguez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Rodriguez is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Archibald to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Archibald shrugs it off.
