This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 12 wins and 40 losses; Arm Breaker! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 29 wins and 42 losses; Pavel Savkov! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Breaker shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Savkov but Savkov pushes him off and we're back to square one. Savkov tries to counter with a clinch but Breaker shakes him off and moves away. Breaker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Breaker (2) vs (0) Savkov Breaker wants to control from the top but Savkov keeps moving. Breaker stands and throws Savkov's legs to the side, diving into side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Breaker (5) vs (0) Savkov Savkov manages to get back to half guard. Savkov has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Rivers Edge Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Breaker content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Breaker is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Savkov defends it well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Savkov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Breaker doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Savkov. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Breaker wants to get back to full guard.

Savkov prevents Breaker from improving his position. Savkov is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
