PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kai Walsh (ranked 3906 p4p, 5556 weight class) and Vitor Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Vitor Santos was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kai Walsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Santos!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Topper Green and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walsh gets a clinch.
Walsh unloads a knee to the mid-section. Santos lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Walsh manages to break the clinch.

Walsh clinches up against the cage.

Walsh pulls guard.
Santos is pushing down on Walsh's leg trying to pass to half guard. Walsh is fighting to maintain full guard but Santos has managed to sneak the leg through.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Walsh actively working from the bottom here.
Walsh is trying to get back to full guard.
Santos content to control rather than advance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santos is looking to advance position but Walsh won't allow it.

Walsh trying to control from the bottom.
Walsh trying to get back to full guard but Santos takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Walsh is looking to improve his position but Santos isn't that keen on the idea.
Walsh wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Walsh on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Walsh tries to get out of the position.
Walsh tries to lock up and control but Santos gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
BOOM! Santos connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Santos wants to take his opponent's back but Walsh doesn't allow it.
Walsh knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Santos on the ground.
Santos takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Walsh is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Santos tries to control but Walsh wriggling away.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Santos might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Walsh haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Walsh really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Santos looking to ground and pound but Walsh is blocking nicely.
Santos controlling from the full mount.
Walsh can't escape the position.
Santos is trying to take his opponent's back.

Walsh is in all sorts of trouble here.
BOOM! Santos connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Santos looking to control but Walsh is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Walsh is trying desperately to improve position.
Santos connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Santos wants to control the pace but Walsh is squirming around nicely.
Santos controlling from the full mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Walsh is wriggling around trying to escape.
Santos tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Santos prevents Walsh from getting the reversal.
Santos thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Santos looking to finish Walsh with some ground and pound. This is bad for Walsh!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Santos fails to move to back control.
Santos sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Santos seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Walsh is holding on tight.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Vitor Santos dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Walsh dives in and scores a takedown into Santos's guard.
Santos controls Walsh momentarily but Walsh frees himself.
Walsh wants to control from the top but Santos keeps moving.

Walsh avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Santos is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santos is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Santos looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Walsh tries to get to full guard but Santos has control of the leg.
Santos is keen to just control but Walsh is a slippery customer.
Santos works his way into full mount!
Walsh is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Santos has taken his back.
Walsh trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Santos keeps control of the position easily here as Walsh tries to buck him off.

Santos has the hooks in. Walsh is starting to panic. He's trying to push off one of the legs but he's left his neck open to attack. Santos passes his arm under Walsh's neck and tightens up a rear naked choke! This one is surely all over! Yes, Walsh taps!
