Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rikkard Hanson (ranked 5309 p4p, 24148 weight class) and Nick Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 21 - 24 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rikkard Hanson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nick Adams! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hanson tries to clinch but Adams moves out of range. Hanson looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Hanson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Adams's half guard. Hanson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Adams doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hanson. Hanson seems to be looking for submissions.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Adams shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hanson as he jumps to the side. Adams is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hanson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Hanson misses with a takedown attempt - Adams sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Hanson has hold of Adams's hands but Adams slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Hanson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Adams. Adams missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. That's four minutes gone in the round. Adams thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hanson's head. Hanson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Hanson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Adams's head. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Adams can do anything to dispel that myth. Hanson advances to half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hanson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hanson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Hanson wants to work for an arm triangle but Adams is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Hanson gets a double leg takedown into Adams's guard. Adams keeping full guard, as Hanson tries to pass. Adams is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hanson defends well. Rikkard Hanson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hanson wants to control from the top but Adams keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Adams looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hanson postures up in Adams's guard and throws a big left but Adams blocks it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Adams avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hanson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Hanson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Hanson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hanson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Adams is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Hanson looks for a takedown but Adams sprawls well. Adams shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hanson's guard. Hanson kicks Adams off and gets to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hanson shoots in but Adams avoids the takedown attempt easily. Hanson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Adams was covering up waiting for the punch and Hanson finishes the takedown easily into guard. Hanson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Adams can do to turn this around? We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hanson trying to control the position from guard on top but Adams is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hanson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Adams is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Hanson is looking to work some ground and pound but Adams has wrist control.

Hanson is putting a hurting on Adams here, landing some big shots from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hanson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Adams, who protects the arm well. Hanson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hanson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Adams gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hanson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Adams to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Adams shrugs it off. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hanson raining down hammerfists from mount. Hanson is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Adams is surviving well by controlling Hanson's body position as best he can. Hanson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Adams can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hanson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Adams with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Adams is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Hanson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hanson slips nicely into half guard.
