Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jake Smith (ranked 5088 p4p, 25607 weight class) and Punch Bag (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bag has chosen Eye of the tiger as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Punch Bag!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bag tries to bum rush Smith with a series of wild strikes but Smith uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Smith lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bag has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Smith.
Bag's coach down at Hellfire Academy was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Bag's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Smith cracks Bag with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Smith lands a jab to Bag's midsection.
Smith fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
A punch lands to the side of Bag 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Smith uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Bag has time to react.
Smith throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Smith scores with a punch to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smith gets a double leg takedown into Bag's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bag working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Smith.
Smith chips away with some ground and pound.
Smith in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Smith drops back looking for a leg! Bag is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bag manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Bag's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bag utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Smith stands up over Bag, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Smith is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Smith throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bag works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Smith trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Smith seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bag wants to stand up but Smith is controlling him.
Smith slips nicely into half guard.

Smith looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Smith is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bag sees it coming and defends easily.
Smith lands strikes from half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Bag on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Smith's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Bag is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Smith scores with a couple of nice shots.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nice strikes from Smith there.
Smith lands strikes from half guard.
Smith slips a nice elbow through Bag's hands, connecting with Bag's forehead.
Smith winds up and cracks Bag with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Smith is nestled in close to Bag, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smith perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smith connects with a nice short shot to Bag's temple.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Smith lands a nice short elbow.
Bag is still in real trouble! Can Smith finish him?

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Smith dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Smith lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Bag seems to have recovered his senses.
Smith misses with a wild combination.
Smith scores with a jab to the jaw.
Left hook, right uppercut from Smith.
Smith throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bag stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Bag takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Smith swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Bag.

Smith decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smith working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Smith in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Bag tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Smith!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jake Smith!
Jake Smith took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
Punch Bag spoke after the fight, saying '"Everybody out there know I beat him, I controlled the fight, he was missing, I hit him plenty more times. I beat him.Let me talk something... I want to thank the whole hood who came out here. I love y'all. I did this for the hood, you know I beat that boy.'.
