Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Island Chief (ranked 5679 p4p, 4154 weight class) and Joe Pulizzi (ranked 581 p4p, 528 weight class). Island Chief had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 207.6lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chief shoots in and bounces Pulizzi off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Chief in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Chief working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Chief throws a big right hand that misses.
Pulizzi looking for a sweep. Not yet Pulizzi, not yet.
Pulizzi pushes Chief off and scrambles back to his feet.
Chief has his takedown stuffed
and Pulizzi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
It looks like Island Chief has been cut.
Pulizzi lands with a cross.
Pulizzi uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Chief has time to react.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pulizzi lands with an uppercut that bounces Chief off the cage and back into range.
Chief closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pulizzi quickly recovers to half guard.
Chief stops Pulizzi from getting back to his feet.
Pulizzi has hold of Chief's hands but Chief slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chief seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Pulizzi looking for submissions off his back.

Chief lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Chief prevents Pulizzi from improving his position.
Chief winds up and cracks Pulizzi with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Pulizzi has one foot on Chief's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

and Pulizzi counters with a two punch combo.

and Pulizzi counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Island Chief. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pulizzi feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Chief sprawling to the canvas! Chief rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Pulizzi finish him?!
Chief is rocked!
Chief walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Chief limp body while Pulizzi jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Joe Pulizzi!
