Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michiel Kortenhorst! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ryan Holiday! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Michael Johnstone and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kortenhorst goes for a double leg but Holiday avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Holiday continues to drive forward. Kortenhorst is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Holiday to keep the fight standing. Holiday scores with a shot to the side of Kortenhorst's head. Holiday breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Holiday keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Holiday looks like he wants to counter punch here. Kortenhorst seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michiel Kortenhorst. That's going to take a lot out of him. Holiday lands a jab.
It looks like Michiel Kortenhorst has been cut. Kortenhorst goes for a double leg but Holiday avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Holiday continues to drive forward. Holiday's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Holiday looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Holiday fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Kortenhorst misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Holiday paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Kortenhorst throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Holiday's waist but Holiday gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kortenhorst off to one side. Kortenhorst takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
That's one minute gone in the round. Holiday keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Holiday defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kortenhorst. Holiday stuffs the takedown attempt from Kortenhorst. Kortenhorst gets slowly back to his feet. Holiday displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Holiday steps in with a hook that catches Kortenhorst right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Holiday follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Kortenhorst looks absolutely devastated.
