The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

McCain shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pavlov napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Pavlov wants to control but McCain postures up.
Pavlov is not content to let McCain control the position.
We've been hearing good reports from Pavlov's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McCain is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

McCain pulls Pavlov in close to prevent any damage.

McCain working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pavlov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pavlov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
