This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 30 wins and 17 losses; Michael Cruz! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 24 wins and 13 losses; Wilhelm Bar! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Paulo Santos and Seu Braga.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Cruz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bar avoids it really well and circles away. Bar tries to keep at a distance but Cruz has taken the fight into the clinch. Bar drags the fight down to the ground.
Bar can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cruz controls the pace. Bar controlling Cruz's posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bar looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cruz has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Bar can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cruz controls the pace. Cruz seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bar for as long as he can get away with. Bar looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Cruz works a leg free and moves into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cruz perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bar is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Bar is pressing down on Cruz's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Bar looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Cruz wants to pass the guard but Bar is keeping the position. Cruz is stalling in the full guard. Cruz preventing the sweep.

That's five minutes gone in the round. Bar wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Cruz won't allow Bar to sweep him here. Cruz looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Bar has Cruz pulled in close to control his posture.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Cruz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Bar lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Bar slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Bar is fighting to break Cruz's control of his arms but Cruz is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Cruz keeping full guard, as Bar tries to pass. Cruz looking for a sweep. Not yet Cruz, not yet. Bar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cruz swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bar being controlled here momentarily.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Cruz is refusing to be controlled, as Bar sits in half guard. Cruz is looking for a sweep. Bar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Cruz preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Cruz trying to control but Bar postures up.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Cruz keeping hold of Bar's head, controlling as best he can. Bar is figuring out what he wants to do next. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bar is trying to control the action in half guard but Cruz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Cruz wants to get back to full guard.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Cruz is looking to control Bar's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cruz avoid being mounted? Bar with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Let's hope that Bar has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Cruz trying to control from the bottom.

He's in a desperate position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cruz tries to hold on but Bar postures up.
