Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Charlie River (ranked 770 p4p, 993 weight class) and Michael Bostic (ranked 55 p4p, 71 weight class). River's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Waylon Jennings - I've Always Been Crazy. Bostic has chosen Move as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 29 - 17 - 1, fighting out of New York, Charlie River! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Bostic! The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Chris Dean and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! River tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bostic was well out of range. Poor timing from River. River misses with a jab, cross combination.
River throws a jab but it's blocked by Bostic. River moves out of range of the body kick. River misses with a leg kick and Bostic counters with a shoot takedown. River fights it but they end up in guard. Bostic throwing strikes but missing. River wants to stand up but Bostic is controlling him. Bostic throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bostic stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. River swivels though and keeps the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bostic chips away with some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bostic with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Bostic pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. River is keeping the position for now. Bostic with a flurry of punches that miss. Bostic trying to control the position from guard on top but River is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bostic forces his way into half guard. Bostic is pressing down on River's thigh, looking to free his foot. River is holding on for now. Bostic slows the pace down in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Bostic is looking for a kimura here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Bostic trying to mount his opponent but River defends it. Bostic is nestled in close to River, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Bostic throwing shots but River is blocking nicely. Bostic lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Bostic sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. River defending well though. Bostic thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Bostic takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. River avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bostic. Bostic is trying to control. River wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Bostic digs a good hook to River's body.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! River tries to bum rush Bostic with a series of wild strikes but Bostic uses good footwork to avoid the assault. River throws a leg kick but Bostic sees it coming and moves out of range. River forces Bostic back against the cage and clinches. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Michael Bostic dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Bostic shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says River as he avoids it easily. River tries to clinch but Bostic is having none of it. Bostic misses the shot to the body. An attempted straight right counter from River misses the target. Bostic scores with a punch to the head. Bostic has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as River is landing a low percentage of strikes. River uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bostic. Bostic slips under a jab. River loads up on a big right hand but Bostic slips the punch. Bostic tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Bostic throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Bostic. River shrugs it off though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. River connects with a leg kick. River throws a chopping leg kick but Bostic manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Bostic swats away the attempt to clinch by River. Bostic swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by River. Charlie River is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice cross by River. Bostic throws a head kick but River moves out of range.
Bostic ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Michael Bostic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bostic misses with a low kick. A big left from River misses. River throws a body kick, spinning off balance and River takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Bostic digs a good hook to River's body.

Michael Bostic seems to be getting the better of the standup. River scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bostic doesn't seem bothered though. River thows a left - swing and a miss! Bostic counters with a body kick. Bostic takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! River throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Bostic throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. River throws a body shot but no joy. River tries to clinch but Bostic is having none of it. Bostic avoids a low kick by using good footwork. A head kick by River misses and Bostic counters with a left and a right that stings River. A chopping leg kick lands by Bostic. A nice leg kick from Bostic, right into the meat of the thigh.
River darts in trying to clinch and Bostic connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Bostic fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Bostic has been the more effective fighter overall so far. River pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Bostic throws a head kick that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bostic ducks down and throws a hook to the body but River moves away. Bostic fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt River. Bostic throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. River tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bostic is in River's guard. River on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if River tries to get out of the position. Bostic throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. River keeping moving, preventing Bostic from controlling successfully. Bostic sitting in guard here, content to control. Bostic throws a strike but River rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. River is posturing up here but Bostic has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! River tries to roll out but it's too tight and River has to tap! Slick submission there by Bostic!
