Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mahammed Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Stress! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Gracie looks for a takedown but Stress sprawls well. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Stress!
Gracie looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mahammed Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Left hook, right uppercut from Stress. Stress thows a body shot but no joy. Gracie shoots in but no luck this time. Stress gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Stress dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Stress lands with a short head shot on the inside. Gracie avoiding damage as Stress throws knees to the body.
Stress tries to break the clinch but Gracie is controlling the position. Stress stops a takedown attempt from Gracie.
Gracie blocks the elbow strike.
Gracie goes for a takedown in the clinch but Stress prevents it.
Gracie looking for a takedown. Stress unloads a knee to the mid-section. Gracie lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Stress using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Gracie has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Stress escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Gracie shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Gracie was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Gracie is breathing heavily. Stress is desperately trying to improve his position but Gracie has a good base and remains in mount. Stress tries to hold on but Gracie pushes him away. Stress is trying to escape the mount.
Stress wants to hold on but Gracie pushes him away. Gracie landing strikes from the mount. Gracie swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mahammed Gracie!
