Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matt Jones (ranked 3848 p4p, 3363 weight class) and John McCoy (ranked 424 p4p, 390 weight class). John McCoy has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Matt Jones's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Matt Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John McCoy! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Bart Greer and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones uses good head movement to avoid the hook from McCoy. We've been told by Jones's head coaches at PhoQus Island Training that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Jones feints and as McCoy raises his hands in defense, Jones changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Jones controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Jones is looking to work some ground and pound but McCoy has wrist control. Jones pushes down on McCoy's leg and manages to get into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones content to control rather than advance. Jones trying to pass the guard but McCoy defending well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Well, if Jones is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones trying to mount his opponent but McCoy defends it. Jones controlling the action here. McCoy looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McCoy can do anything to dispel that myth. Jones looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jones wants to work for an arm triangle but McCoy is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones works his foot free and advances to mount. Jones lands a nice shot to the head. Jones wants to take McCoy's back here but McCoy is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Jones is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! McCoy is forced to tap! Great finish!
