Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kaiden Walsh (ranked 2497 p4p, 3303 weight class) and Chris Zeal (ranked 325 p4p, 416 weight class). Zeal has chosen War eye as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kaiden Walsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Zeal!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walsh is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Walsh paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Walsh misses with an uppercut

and Zeal counters with a single leg into guard. Walsh didn't expect that.
Zeal in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Walsh will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Zeal throws a big right hand that misses.
Zeal throws a strike but Walsh rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Zeal has an active guard here but Walsh has managed to pass into half guard.
Zeal tries to get to full guard but Walsh has control of the leg.

Walsh moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Zeal.
Zeal tries to bench press Walsh off him but Walsh keeps the position.

Walsh is looking to take a break and control but Zeal is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Zeal is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Zeal tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Walsh has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Zeal looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Walsh can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Zeal is looking to escape.
Walsh looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Zeal regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zeal slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Zeal is looking to control Walsh's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Zeal avoid being mounted?

Walsh prevents Zeal from improving his position.
Zeal moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Walsh wants to control from the top but Zeal keeps moving.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close round but I would say that Kaiden Walsh will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

A jab lands there for Walsh.
A solid leg kick lands there for Walsh.
Walsh dips to his left and cracks Zeal with an uppercut!
Zeal defending well as Walsh loads up on a big left hand.

Walsh with a nice cross.
Walsh throws a hook but Zeal avoids it easily.
Walsh pushes Zeal away with a front kick.
Walsh lunges at Zeal with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Zeal's hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zeal moves out of range as Walsh strikes.
Zeal feints the counter takedown.
Walsh is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Walsh explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
The fighters circling - Walsh throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Zeal drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Walsh defends it well.

and Zeal decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Walsh's guard.

Zeal stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Walsh swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Zeal wants to pass the guard but Walsh is keeping the position.

Zeal throws a strike but Walsh rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Zeal is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Walsh is aware though and is defending well.
Zeal is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Zeal looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Walsh has picked Zeal up and slammed him! Zeal can't keep hold of the triangle and Walsh manages to pass to side control!

Zeal can't do much from the bottom here.
Zeal tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Walsh wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Walsh wants to control but Zeal is keeping him busy.
Zeal manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Zeal stands up over Walsh, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Zeal wants to control from the top but Walsh keeps moving.
Zeal throws a strike but Walsh rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Zeal is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Zeal throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Walsh escapes and throws Zeal's legs to the side, diving into side control!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zeal can do anything to dispel that myth.

Zeal is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Zeal manages to reverse the position and now he's in Walsh's guard. Nice work there by Zeal.
Zeal is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Zeal had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Walsh defends it easily.

Zeal throws his legs up looking for a submission but Walsh uses it to pass to side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kaiden Walsh.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Walsh, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
