PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lui Mora (ranked 4432 p4p, 4492 weight class) and George Adamidis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lui Mora!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, George Adamidis!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Chad Campbell and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adamidis takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Adamidis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mora manages to avoid it.
Adamidis misses with a looping right.
Mora half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Adamidis misses with a takedown attempt - Mora sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mora tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Adamidis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Adamidis lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Mora has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Mora and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Adamidis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mora throws a lazy right hand but Adamidis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Adamidis tries to clinch up but Mora circles away and keeps his distance.

Mora shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mora connects with a nice short shot to Adamidis's temple.
Mora has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Mora is looking to take a break and control but Adamidis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Adamidis gets back to full guard.
Mora connects with a couple of short punches.

Mora is fighting to break Adamidis's control of his arms but Adamidis is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Mora is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mora stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Adamidis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Adamidis has momentary wrist control but Mora slips an elbow through the middle.
Mora wants to control from the top but Adamidis keeps moving.

Adamidis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mora. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Adamidis can do anything to dispel that myth.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Lui Mora dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Adamidis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mora pinned against the cage. Mora gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Lui Mora has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Adamidis.

Mora fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Adamidis sprawls well initially but Mora persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Mora has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Adamidis is bucking up trying to escape but Mora cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Mora is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Adamidis can do to turn this around?
Adamidis takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Mora's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lui Mora!
In his post fight interview, Lui Mora started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
