PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight kickboxing rules bout between Liam George (ranked 2940 p4p, 23518 weight class) and DJ Chavis (ranked 375 p4p, 623 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that DJ Chavis was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Liam George!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DJ Chavis!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
George ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Chavis has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
George pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
George throws a series of punches but Chavis avoids them all with ease.
Chavis looks to score with a jab to the body but George is just out of range.
Chavis connects with a nice looking jab.
George takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A looping hook to the body misses from George. Chavis does a little dance to reset his feet.
Chavis is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

and George counters with a lovely straight right hand!
George stuns Chavis with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Chavis smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

George was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Chavis lands with a shot to the body.

George throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Chavis sees it coming and avoids it easily.

A combination from Chavis does no damage.
George throws a big counter combination but Chavis scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
DJ Chavis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
George throws an overhand right that lands on Chavis's shoulder, as Chavis tries to avoid the shot.
George lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Chavis tries to close the distance and clinch up but George swats him away and circles back towards the center.
We've been hearing reports that George has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
The fighters circling - Chavis throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Chavis tries to clinch there but George circles away.
George looks to score with a jab to the body but Chavis is just out of range.
Chavis wants to clinch up but George keeps it at a distance.

A little feinted left hand from George on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
George uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
George avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
George avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
DJ Chavis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chavis walks into a big right hand from George and goes down! The referee sends George to a neutral corner as Chavis gets back to his feet. He looks OK so we're back under way.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chavis misses with a head kick.
George throws a lazy right hand but Chavis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
The fighters circle momentarily. George darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Chavis is still on wobbly legs! Can George finish him?
George takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Chavis throws a shot to the body.
Chavis seems to have recovered his senses.
Chavis's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Chavis duly obliges.
Chavis feints and then cracks George's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow George down.
Chavis uses good head movement to avoid the hook from George.
Chavis throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
George takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chavis misses with a few strikes there.
George connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Chavis's hands.
George drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Liam George should take that round, based on the knockdown.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
George lands a glancing blow to the side of Chavis's head.

George misses with a hook. Chavis ducked under it nicely.

George was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

George throws a push kick but Chavis slaps the foot to one side.
Chavis steps to the side to avoid the strikes from George.
George misses with an attempted mid kick.
Chavis lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Chavis throws a body punch but George moves out of range.
George went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
George walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
George avoids the body shot from Chavis.
Chavis connects with a leg kick.
Chavis misses with a jab, cross combination.
George is looking to counter with a body kick.
George scores with a body shot.
Chavis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but George manages to avoid it.
Chavis is looking to score with low kicks.
