Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Backman (ranked 4034 p4p, 25553 weight class) and Daniel Patrick (ranked 0 p4p, 606 weight class). Patrick has chosen I Win! as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mickey Backman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daniel Patrick! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Backman stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Backman wants it to stay on the feet. Patrick is looking to clinch but Backman is avoiding it.
Backman changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Patrick avoids a kick to the body.
Backman connects with an inside leg kick. Patrick wants to clinch. Patrick moves in looking to clinch but Backman pushes him off. Patrick changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Backman tries to avoid it but Patrick manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Backman to the ground. Backman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Patrick shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Backman counters with an outside leg kick.
Mickey Backman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Patrick. Backman throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
It looks like Daniel Patrick has been cut. Patrick has a takedown stuffed.
That's one minute gone in the round. A nice leg kick lands there from Backman. Backman lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Patrick misses with a wild combination.
Patrick takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Patrick fails with a takedown attempt. Backman throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Backman thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Patrick if he has to take too many more of those.
A low kick lands for Backman.
Backman scores with a nice body kick.
Patrick looks winded! Backman lands a big head kick that sends Patrick tumbling to the mat! Backman takes a step backwards and waves Patrick back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Patrick is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Backman moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Patrick is still on wobbly legs! Can Backman finish him? Patrick throws a sloppy head kick and Backman counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Patrick is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Backman scores with a couple of nice shots. Backman drops an elbow to the side of Patrick's head. Backman uses his free foot to push down on Patrick's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Patrick. Backman controlling the position easily from mount. Backman lands a big shot to the head and Patrick winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Mickey Backman! Daniel Patrick was interviewed post fight and said 'I'd like to contribute my loss to my crack dealer, the casino hall by my house I go toinstead of training and that crackhead homeless girl that does dirty things to me for crack rocks.
