PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Nolan (ranked 24604 p4p, 4381 weight class) and Rosie Posie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Nolan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rosie Posie!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Posie rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nolan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nolan went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Posie pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Posie tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Nolan counters with a stiff right hand.

Nolan instigates a clinch.

Nolan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Posie moves into the clinch successfully.
Nolan keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Posie's efforts to push away.
Posie jumps guard but Nolan turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Posie wants to get back to striking at distance but Nolan won't allow it.
Nolan is trying to pull guard but Posie has him pressed against the cage.
Posie wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Nolan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Posie will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Posie misses with a leg kick

and Nolan counters with a single leg into guard. Posie didn't expect that.

Posie looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Nolan passes into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nolan works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Nolan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Posie is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The referee asks Nolan politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Nolan prefers to stall for the moment though.
Nolan has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Nolan lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Nolan takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nolan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Nolan jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Posie manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Posie seems a little lost for a moment, as Nolan dominates the positioning.

Nolan decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Nolan connects with a couple of short punches.
Nolan engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Posie wants to improve his position but instead Nolan has moved into half guard.

Nolan passes to full mount!
Posie looks winded!
Nolan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Nolan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Nolan tries to control but Posie wriggling away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Nolan.

Posie throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Nolan gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Posie tries to clinch up
and Nolan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

It looks like Rosie Posie has been cut.
Nolan goes for a double leg but Posie avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Posie continues to drive forward.
Posie tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Nolan just stands there and leans against the cage.
Posie is breathing heavily.
Posie wants to stall.
Posie is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Nolan ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Nolan no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Posie must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Nolan pulls Posie in close to prevent any damage.

Nolan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Nolan is trying to keep Posie in close.
Posie looking to sit in guard and control but Nolan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nolan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Nolan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Posie, up you get!

Nolan stands and steps away. Posie gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Posie takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Nolan clinches with his opponent.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Posie is looking to clinch but Nolan is avoiding it.
Nolan tries to clinch up but Posie circles away and keeps his distance.

Posie tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nolan was well out of range. Poor timing from Posie.

Nolan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nolan showed some decent athleticism there.
Posie pushes Nolan off but Nolan dives into side control.

Nolan works to advance to full mount. Posie defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Nolan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Posie tries to lock up and control but Nolan gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Nolan breaks from Posie's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Nolan pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
