PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Godfrey (ranked 3519 p4p, 5463 weight class) and Sean Murthy (ranked 467 p4p, 0 weight class). Godfrey's entrance music is Where the Streets Have No Name - U2. A fine choice. Sean Murthy will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Godfrey counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Godfrey.

Ben Godfrey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean Murthy.
Godfrey drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Murthy gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Godfrey has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Godfrey wants the takedown. Murthy is fighting it off but Godfrey persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Murthy's guard against the cage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Godfrey stands up over Murthy, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Godfrey has Murthy pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Godfrey pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Murthy tumbling to the mat - Godfrey dives into Murthy's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Godfrey is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Murthy's shoulder. That is not cool.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Well Godfrey has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
