Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sauv Ignon (ranked 5781 p4p, 4426 weight class) and Jeannot Mondiou (ranked 0 p4p, 160 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sauv Ignon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeannot Mondiou!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Donatello Bradman and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ignon throws a shot to the body.

Mondiou decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ignon controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Mondiou is looking to advance position but Ignon won't allow it.

Ignon looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Ignon keeps control of the position for the meantime.
We've been hearing good reports from Ignon's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ignon is refusing to be controlled, as Mondiou sits in half guard.

Mondiou trying to pass the guard but Ignon defending well.
Mondiou wants to control but Ignon is keeping him busy.
Ignon tries to get to full guard but Mondiou has control of the leg.
Ignon is staying active underneath Mondiou, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Mondiou trying to control but Ignon is having none of it.
Mondiou is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Mondiou goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ignon is on top in guard.

Mondiou looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ignon is one step ahead there.
Ignon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mondiou on the ground.
Ignon is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Mondiou had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ignon defends it easily.
Mondiou keeping full guard, as Ignon tries to pass.
Ignon stays in close to Mondiou's body and controls the position.

Mondiou looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ignon controlling from the top position.
Ignon has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Mondiou tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ignon seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mondiou escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ignon gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ignon looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mondiou tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mondiou working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ignon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ignon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Mondiou bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ignon's guard.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jeannot Mondiou dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Mondiou feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ignon wants to sweep here but Mondiou controlling him for the moment.
Mondiou looking to sit in guard and control but Ignon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Ignon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Ignon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mondiou swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ignon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ignon stands and throws Mondiou's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Ignon postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Ignon is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mondiou knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Ignon working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Ignon.
Mondiou is looking to regain half guard here but Ignon keeps moving and retains side control.
Ignon controls the position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Ignon thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mondiou is looking to regain half guard here but Ignon keeps moving and retains side control.
Mondiou is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ignon off and has taken his back!
Well, with Mondiou on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Ignon is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Mondiou missing with strikes.

Ignon is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Mondiou patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!

Ignon changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Ignon bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Mondiou's head.
Mondiou on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Ignon fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mondiou sprawls well initially but Ignon persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Ignon is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Mondiou has managed to free his arm - good work.
Ignon is pressing down on Mondiou's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mondiou is holding on for now.
Mondiou wants to improve his position but Ignon is controlling well.

Ignon trying to control the pace.

Ignon is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mondiou is just riding it out for now. Ignon eventually gives up the hold.
Ignon content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Mondiou is pressing down on Ignon's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ignon is pushing down on Mondiou's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mondiou is fighting to maintain full guard but Ignon has managed to sneak the leg through.
Mondiou tries to roll over but Ignon keeps him under control.
Ignon is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Ignon prevents Mondiou from improving his position.

Mondiou is defending against the submission attempts here by Ignon.

Mondiou wants to control but Ignon is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ignon perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Mondiou scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Ignon struggling a bit here.

Mondiou tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Ignon is not content to let Mondiou control the position.
