Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nate Pawn (ranked 5572 p4p, 4262 weight class) and Kent Straight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nate Pawn has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nate Pawn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kent Straight!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Straight fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Straight.
It looked like Pawn was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Straight.
Straight goes for a double leg but Pawn avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pawn continues to drive forward.
Pawn throws a counter high kick but Straight was just alert enough to avoid it.
Nate Pawn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kent Straight.
Straight lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Kent Straight seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pawn misses the jab.
Straight wants to counter with a clinch but Pawn pushes him away.

Pawn gets caught flat footed, as Straight shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Pawn wants to stand up but Straight is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Straight drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pawn is looking to stand up but Straight isn't so interested in that idea.
Straight throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pawn works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Pawn pushes Straight off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Straight shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pawn manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Pawn is looking to stand up but Straight isn't so interested in that idea.

Pawn uses the cage to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Pawn gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A shot in the inside from Pawn.

Pawn breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pawn is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Straight.
Straight scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Straight wants to land a leg kick but Pawn is out of range.
A quick step to the side and Pawn tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Pawn is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Straight cracks a nice hook into Pawn's ribs.
Straight looks winded!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
No joy there for Straight, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Pawn looks to land a right hand but Straight moved out of range.
Straight throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pawn. Straight does a little dance to reset his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Straight fails with a takedown attempt.
Pawn is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Straight tries for a takedown but Pawn sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Straight uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pawn.
Straight misses with the combination.
Straight fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pawn swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Straight gets cracked there but stands up to it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kent Straight will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Straight ducks under a wild hook from Pawn.
Pawn scores with a hook to the body. Straight takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Straight is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Pawn's half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pawn is looking to escape.
Straight throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Pawn to regain full guard.
Pawn is looking to stand up but Straight isn't so interested in that idea.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pawn kicks Straight off and gets to his feet.
Kent Straight seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Straight is breathing heavily.
Pawn slaps away a takedown attempt from Straight, before circling back to the center of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pawn swings for the body but Straight moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Straight is defended easily by Pawn.
It looked like Pawn was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Straight.
Nate Pawn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pawn slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Pawn feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Straight sprawling to the canvas! Straight rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Pawn finish him?!

Straight is rocked!

It looks like Kent Straight has been cut.
Pawn is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Straight can do to turn this around?
Crack! Pawn connects with the perfect overhand right and Straight falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Pawn!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Nate Pawn!
