This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 15 wins and 15 losses; Helio Gracias! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 7 wins and 3 losses; Gul Dukat! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Matheus Silva.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Dukat decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Gracias (0) vs (2) Dukat Dukat working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Gracias's thigh. Gracias counters though and makes it back to full guard. Dukat controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Dukat advances to half guard. Dukat has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at The House Of Pain. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Gracias manages to get to full guard.

This isn't 1993 though, so Gracias shrugs it off. Gracias is squirming around, avoiding Dukat's attempts to control the action. Gracias is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Dukat wants to take Gracias's back but he can't do it this time. Gracias is trying to reverse the position but instead Dukat has taken his back - oops! Gracias trying to control but not successfully. Dukat looking for the choke but no joy. Gracias prevents Dukat from getting a body triangle. Dukat is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Dukat is cranking Gracias's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Gracias! He's tightened the choke and Gracias is tapping out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 12:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Gul Dukat! Gul Dukat was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed. |
