PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Fury (ranked 1107 p4p, 1394 weight class) and Chris McCocker (ranked 157 p4p, 200 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tommy Fury!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chris McCocker!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCocker staying out of range there.
Fury on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Fury uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from McCocker.
Fury tries to close the distance and clinch up but McCocker swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Fury slips a straight right by McCocker.
Fury takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Fury drops his hands momentarily and McCocker takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Fury takes a swing at McCocker's ribcage but misses.
McCocker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
McCocker uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Fury.
McCocker misses with a straight right.
McCocker swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
The crowd cheers as Fury lands an impressive looking overhand right. McCocker doesn't seem phased though.
Good standup being displayed there by McCocker as he connects with a hook.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fury tries to clinch but McCocker moves out of range.
It seemed like McCocker was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Fury throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from McCocker! But no joy.

Fury has closed the distance and engaged McCocker in a clinch.

Fury jumps guard and drags McCocker to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McCocker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fury swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McCocker is pushing down on Fury's leg trying to pass to half guard. Fury is fighting to maintain full guard but McCocker has managed to sneak the leg through.

McCocker is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Fury sees it coming and defends easily.
Fury works his way to full guard. Good work.

McCocker is looking to pass into half guard but Fury pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Fury is in guard.


McCocker is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fury defends well.
McCocker is trying to keep Fury in close.
McCocker lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

McCocker must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

McCocker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fury swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fury has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McCocker can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fury looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

McCocker drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Fury manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now McCocker has Fury in his guard.

Fury works a leg free and moves into half guard.
McCocker is trying to control but can't.
McCocker wants to improve his position but Fury is controlling well.
Fury is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
McCocker wants to control but Fury is keeping busy.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fury prevents McCocker from improving his position.

McCocker looking for submissions off his back.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
McCocker has a hand on Fury's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Fury takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Fury controlling the position easily from mount.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tommy Fury will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

McCocker throws a shot from downtown. Fury moves away and avoids it.
McCocker misses with a looping right.
Fury tries to close the distance and clinch but McCocker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

McCocker throws an overhand right that lands on Fury's shoulder, as Fury tries to avoid the shot.

McCocker looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Fury!
Fury regains half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McCocker is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fury doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McCocker.

Fury has his feet on McCocker's thighs here. He's pushed McCocker off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! McCocker screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
