Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Mallin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and brian hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). brian hansen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mike Mallin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
hansen swinging wilding here.
A head kick misses from Mallin.
hansen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
hansen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mallin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
hansen throws a one two combo.

Mallin shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
hansen misses with some strikes from the bottom.

hansen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mallin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and hansen defends it well.

hansen is looking for a triangle here but Mallin uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Mallin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mallin is trying to get an arm triangle but hansen is defending well.
Mallin takes advantage of some sloppy striking from hansen to pass into mount.
hansen tries to strike from the bottom but he's left himself exposed and Mallin has taken his back.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

hansen manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mallin's guard. Nice work there by hansen.

hansen drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mallin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now hansen has Mallin in his guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
hansen keeping moving, preventing Mallin from controlling successfully.

hansen is looking for a triangle but Mallin pushes his legs off easily.
Mallin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

hansen looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Mallin passes into half guard.

hansen wants to improve his position but Mallin is controlling well.

Mallin is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, hansen has managed to free his arm - good work.

That was a close round but I would say that Mike Mallin will probably get the nod.

Mallin swats away the attempt to clinch by hansen.
hansen tries to work over Mallin's front leg with a kick but Mallin checks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
hansen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
hansen misses with a jab, cross combination.

hansen looks to score with a jab to the body but Mallin is just out of range.
Mallin throws a leg kick which misses hansen's front leg but catches the back leg as hansen tries to avoid it.

hansen avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Mike Mallin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
hansen uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mallin.
hansen throws a push kick but Mallin slaps the foot to one side.

Mallin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mallin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

hansen tries to improve his position but instead Mallin has taken his back!
Mallin lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

hansen rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Mallin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

hansen tries to roll over but Mallin keeps him under control.

Mallin seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
hansen moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Mallin wants to pass the guard but hansen is keeping the position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

The fight stays on the outside here - hansen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

hansen looks to land a combination. Mallin sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Mike Mallin has been cut.

Mike Mallin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

You can see the frustration on hansen's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

I would not like to be hansen right now.
hansen turns into Mallin and is now in his guard.

Mike Mallin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

hansen drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mallin dives on top into guard.

hansen has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mallin is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for hansen.
hansen is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Mallin's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

hansen flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mallin in particular looking to stall.

I would just about give that final round to brian hansen.
