Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shane Beers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robin Gillette (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Robin Gillette was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robin Gillette! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Beers fails with an attempt to clinch.
Beers doesn't manage to clinch there - Gillette circles away.

Gillette tries to bum rush Beers with a series of wild strikes but Beers uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Beers drives through and clinches with Gillette against the cage.

Gillette tightens his grip and picks Beers up, before dumping him to the ground. Beers manages to land in guard. Gillette tries to free his leg and advance position but Beers is retaining full guard. Gillette trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Gillette throws and elbow that misses. Beers uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gillette's guard. Nice move by Beers! Gillette really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Beers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. That's two minutes gone in the round. Beers looking to sit in guard and control but Gillette gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Beers not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Gillette slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Gillette pulls Beers in to control the position. Gillette keeping moving, preventing Beers from controlling successfully. Gillette has Beers pulled in close to control his posture. Gillette looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Beers puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Gillette tries to roll over but Beers keeps him under control. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Gillette works his way to full guard. Good work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Beers is breathing heavily. Gillette will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Gillette pushes Beers off and scrambles back to his feet.

and Beers counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Beers. Come on Beers - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Gillette shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Beers's guard. Gillette trying to control the position from guard on top but Beers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gillette looking to pass the guard.
