Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Philip Marcus (ranked 1163 p4p, 931 weight class) and Tyres Widforss (ranked 108 p4p, 86 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Philip Marcus! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyres Widforss! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Widforss throws a shot to the body.
Marcus looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Tyres Widforss seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Widforss throws a jab but it's blocked by Marcus. Marcus throws a quick counter head kick but Widforss was just out of range. Marcus throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Widforss shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Marcus's guard. Marcus pushes Widforss off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Marcus instigates a clinch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A nice left hand lands by Marcus.
I was talking to Marcus's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Marcus is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Widforss wants to get back to striking at distance but Marcus won't allow it.
Marcus pushes Widforss back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Widforss takes a shot to the head. Widforss tries to throw a body punch but Marcus avoids it by throwing Widforss back against the cage. A hook to the body from Marcus.
Marcus throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Marcus lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Marcus lands with a left to the head. Marcus working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Marcus works on Widforss's body with a couple of short punches. Widforss drops down looking for an ankle pick but Marcus pulls his leg out and moves away.

Widforss shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Marcus as he avoids it easily. Philip Marcus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyres Widforss. Marcus keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Marcus lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Marcus throws a head kick that Widforss semi-blocks.
Marcus takes a swing at Widforss's ribcage but misses. Widforss is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Widforss misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Marcus.
Widforss waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Marcus. Marcus ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Widforss moves away. Marcus uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Widforss. Marcus misses with a body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Widforss shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Widforss was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Marcus throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Marcus moves out of range of the strikes. Marcus connects with a crisp jab. Widforss throws an overhand right that lands on Marcus's shoulder, as Marcus tries to avoid the shot. Widforss misses with an uppercut. Widforss lands a nice looking body shot.
Widforss shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Marcus counters with a stiff right hand. Marcus gets a clinch. A right hook to the body lands for Marcus.
Widforss tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Marcus smiles and moves away.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Marcus throws a head kick but Widforss moves out of range.
Widforss dives in and scores a takedown into Marcus's guard. Widforss wants to pass the guard but Marcus is keeping the position. Marcus looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Widforss trying to control but Marcus is working from the bottom. Widforss trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Widforss throwing strikes but missing. Marcus pulls Widforss in close to his closed guard and prevents Widforss from doing any damage or advancing position. Widforss trying to control the position from guard on top but Marcus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marcus wants to sweep but no luck. Widforss loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Marcus keeping full guard, as Widforss tries to pass. Marcus keeping moving, preventing Widforss from controlling successfully.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Marcus takes a body punch but keeps moving. Marcus pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Widforss changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Widforss misses with a hook to the body
and Marcus counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Widforss is lucky that one didn't land flush. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Philip Marcus dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.
Widforss shoots in and bounces Marcus off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Widforss being controlled here momentarily. Widforss pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Marcus is keeping the position for now. Marcus is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Marcus is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Widforss throwing strikes from guard but Marcus blocks nicely. Widforss tries to free his leg and advance position but Marcus is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marcus tries to land a sweep but no joy. Marcus not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Widforss missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Widforss trying to control the position from guard on top but Marcus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Widforss throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Marcus works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Widforss with a flurry of punches that miss. Widforss preventing the sweep. Widforss advances to half guard. Marcus is staying active underneath Widforss, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Widforss missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Marcus tries to get to full guard but Widforss has control of the leg. Widforss is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Marcus defends it well. Marcus is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Widforss looking to secure an arm triangle but Marcus defends it well. Marcus is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Widforss can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Marcus is looking to escape. Widforss throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Widforss misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Marcus gets back to half guard. Widforss throws a strike but Marcus avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Marcus preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Marcus trying to control the position.

God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Widforss goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Marcus rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Widforss's guard! Nice work there by Marcus! Marcus sitting in guard, not really doing much. And that is the end of the round. Tyres Widforss showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round! Marcus slips under a jab. Widforss shoots in for a takedown but Marcus shows good takedown defense. Marcus goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Widforss lands with a straight right. Marcus didn't see that one coming. Widforss misses the body punch and Marcus counters with a crisp one two that drops Widforss! Marcus thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Widforss to his feet! Widforss is in big trouble!

A head kick misses from Marcus. And Widforss tries to counter it with a takedown but Marcus pushes his down on his head and steps out. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Widforss, as that shot connected.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Marcus avoids the body shot from Widforss.

Marcus has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Widforss finds it's way round the side to connect with Marcus's head. Marcus cracks a nice hook into Widforss's ribs. That's going to take a lot out of Tyres Widforss. Marcus throws a head kick that misses. Widforss feints the counter takedown. Widforss misses with a shot to the body and Marcus counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Marcus moves into the clinch successfully.

A shot in the inside from Marcus. Widforss misses with a short punch on the inside. Widforss tries to circle away but Marcus has him pinned against the cage. Widforss struggles to land a body shot inside as Marcus controls his hands.

Still in the clinch, Marcus scores with a nice short uppercut. Marcus lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Widforss. Marcus lands a hook that snaps the head of Widforss backwards. Widforss jumps guard but Marcus turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Marcus lands a shoulder strike. Marcus lands a nice shot to the body. Widforss's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Marcus stalling.
Marcus's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Marcus lands a left hand that snaps the head of Widforss backwards. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Marcus makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. A quick uppercut on the inside from Marcus. Marcus keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Widforss's efforts to push away. Marcus lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
And that's the end of the fight! Philip Marcus showed his dominance in that final round. I think Marcus has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
