Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Steve Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tore Bross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawkins comes to the cage accompanied by California. Bross has chosen Straight Outta Compton as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Steve Hawkins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tore Bross! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Bross. No joy for Hawkins on that attempt. Bross shoots in for a double leg but Hawkins sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. A solid leg kick lands there for Bross.
Hawkins darts in and clinches Bross up against the cage. Hawkins avoiding damage as Bross throws knees to the body.
Bross misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Hawkins.
Hawkins jumps guard.
Hawkins striking off his back but it's not causing Bross any problems. Hawkins looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bross is one step ahead there. Bross thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Bross trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Hawkins trying to keep a closed guard but Bross is proving a slippery customer.
Bross stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hawkins swivels though and keeps the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hawkins wants to sweep but no luck.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Bross is looking to land body kicks. Bross gets a takedown into half guard. Hawkins tries to roll over but Bross keeps him under control. Hawkins is pressing down on Bross's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Bross sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hawkins's guard. Hawkins manages to escape and get back to his feet! Bross shoots and misses and Hawkins counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bross's guard now. Hawkins is breathing heavily. Bross is looking for a triangle but Hawkins pushes his legs off easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bross keeping moving, preventing Hawkins from controlling successfully. Hawkins knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bross on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hawkins works over Bross with some ground and pound from guard. Bross is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Bross throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

You can't force these things though and Hawkins defends well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hawkins is working Bross over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Hawkins scoring with some ground and pound. Hawkins is working Bross over from the guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. Bross manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hawkins manages to get himself to full guard.
Hawkins will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Bross works a leg free and moves into half guard. Bross tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hawkins knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Bross is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hawkins doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bross. Bross trying to mount his opponent but Hawkins defends it. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Bross prevents Hawkins from improving his position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Tore Bross will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Hawkins misses with a takedown and Bross counters with a single leg into guard. Hawkins didn't expect that. Bross thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Bross has gone for a leg lock! Hawkins slips out almost immediately though and dives into Bross's guard. Hawkins controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Bross is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Hawkins landing with the ground and pound. Hawkins has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hawkins distracts Bross with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Hawkins lands a couple of elbows. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hawkins's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Hawkins trying to control the position from guard on top but Bross is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tore Bross has got the better of the ground game so far. Bross looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hawkins is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Bross keeping moving, preventing Hawkins from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bross working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hawkins doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Bross is tightening it up a little... Hawkins has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Hawkins reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Hawkins taps out! nice BJJ there by Bross!
