The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Davis clinches up against the ropes. Davis stops a takedown attempt from Hussein.
Davis gets a trip takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Hussein (0) vs (2) Davis Hussein moves into full guard.
Davis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Davis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Davis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Davis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Davis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Hussein controls Davis momentarily but Davis frees himself. Hussein working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Davis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Davis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Davis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hussein swivels though and keeps the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hussein looking for a triangle here. Davis is fighting it but it looks tight! Hussein pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Davis is tapping out - this one is all over!

After the fight, Zabit Hussein was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |
