Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leonard Read (ranked 1099 p4p, 1895 weight class) and Roy Hinkle (ranked 160 p4p, 286 weight class). Hinkle has chosen 3 Hour Tour as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Leonard Read! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Roy Hinkle! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Dirk Anderson and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Read clinches with his opponent.
Read has Hinkle pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Read pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Hinkle tumbling to the mat - Read dives into Hinkle's guard. Read trying to control but Hinkle is working from the bottom. Hinkle trying to control the position here. Read is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Read drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Read jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Read trying to control the position from guard on top but Hinkle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Read sitting in guard here, content to control. Hinkle keeping moving, preventing Read from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Read has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Hinkle looking to hit a scissor sweep but Read is one step ahead there. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hinkle holds on and takes a little breather.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Hinkle looking to score a takedown here. Read is defending well but Hinkle drives through and ends up in Read's guard. Read is trying to keep Hinkle in close.
Hinkle must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Read working a defensive guard but Hinkle passes into half guard.

If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hinkle creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Hinkle got a little sloppy there for a moment and Read has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hinkle has managed to get both his arms back between Read's legs - danger averted. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. But no, Hinkle has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
