The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Cardona bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Cardona (4) vs (0) Leifsson Leifsson is trying to improve his position. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Cardona tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Leifsson is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Leifsson is still trying to improve position. Cardona wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Leifsson, who protects the arm well. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Cardona is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Leifsson has escaped the position, nice work there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Leifsson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Leifsson looking for submissions off his back. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Leifsson is looking for a sweep. Cardona is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Cardona is looking for a kimura here.
