Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sean Sherk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Duex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Sherk might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Sean Sherk Entrance. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sean Sherk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Duex! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Ren Mimura and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sherk gets a takedown into half guard. Sherk is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Sherk thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Duex to regain full guard. Sherk trying to control but Duex is working from the bottom. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sherk accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Sherk might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Sherk trying to control but Duex is working from the bottom. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Duex pushes Sherk off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Sherk closes the distance and clinches up with Duex, looking for a takedown. Sherk pushes Duex against the ropes but Duex circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Duex moves in looking to clinch but Sherk pushes him off. Sherk fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Duex moves in looking to clinch but Sherk pushes him off.
That's one minute gone in the round. A head kick misses from Duex. Sherk shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sean Sherk. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sherk shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Sherk thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Duex wants to control but Sherk is keeping busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Sherk is looking to advance position but Duex won't allow it. Sherk slips a nice elbow through Duex's hands, connecting with Duex's forehead. Duex regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Sherk. Sherk working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Sherk looking to pass the guard. Sherk trying to control the position from guard on top but Duex is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sherk is looking to work some ground and pound but Duex has wrist control. Sherk missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sherk throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Duex works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Duex lands a head kick. Sherk smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Sherk swats away the attempt to clinch by Duex. Sherk takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Duex gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Duex looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sherk is one step ahead there. Sherk with a flurry of punches that miss. Sherk wants to pass the guard but Duex is keeping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sherk scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Duex wants to stand but Sherk is controlling the position. Sherk has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Duex keeping moving, preventing Sherk from controlling successfully. Duex not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Duex tries to clinch but Sherk moves out of range. Sherk fails in his attempt to clinch. Sherk takes a kick to the side of the head. Horrible takedown by Sherk or perhaps it was just good defense by Duex which made him look bad. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Duex closes the distance looking to clinch and Sherk counters with a takedown into side control. You can see the frustration on Duex's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Sherk trying to control the action but Duex is working from the bottom. Duex is trying to control Sherk's posture but Sherk avoids it. Sherk tries for a kimura but Duex is defending well. Duex can't do much from the bottom here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sherk misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sherk wants to lay and pray for a moment but Duex keeps working. Duex is working to avoid the ground and pound but Sherk connects with a decent elbow. Sherk postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The ground and pound from Sherk seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Sherk remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Sherk throws an elbow but Duex slips to the side and avoids it well. Duex is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Sherk will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Sherk fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Duex sprawls well initially but Sherk persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Sherk missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Sherk looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Duex with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Sherk is looking to advance position but Duex won't allow it. Duex is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Sherk scores with a couple of nice shots. Duex is looking to escape. Sherk is trying to control. Duex wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Sherk winds up and cracks Duex with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Duex takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Sherk wants to advance to full mount but Duex doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
