The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Zan closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Adam (0) vs (4) Zan We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Adam manages to work his way to half guard, despite Zan's best efforts. Zan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Adam slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Zan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Zan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Adam is on top in guard.
Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Adam (2) vs (4) Zan Adam trying to control but Zan is working from the bottom. Zan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Adam can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Zan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Adam defends well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Zan throws his legs up looking for a submission but Adam uses it to pass to side control.
Score +3 for passing guard: Adam (5) vs (4) Zan Adam is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Zan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zan wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Adam has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Zan's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Zan is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Adam!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Principo Adam! Principo Adam bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it. |
