And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 2 losses; Principo Adam!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Felipe Paraventi.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Adams shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Adam pinned against the ropes. Adam gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Adam closes the distance and clinches.
Adams goes for a takedown in the clinch but Adam prevents it.
Adams drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Smash Adams. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Adam gets control of Adams's arms and successfully pulls guard. Adam will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Adams drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Adams jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Adam has his foot on Adams's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Adams works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Adams got a little sloppy there for a moment and Adam has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Adams has managed to get both his arms back between Adam's legs - danger averted.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Adam escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Adams gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Adam wants to sweep but no luck.
Adam can't keep his opponent in guard - Adams advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Adams uses his free foot to push down on Adam's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Adam. Score +3 for passing guard: Adams (3) vs (0) Adam
That's one minute gone in the round.
Adams has control of Adam's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Adam regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Adam is working to get back to half guard.
Adam is still trying to improve position.
Adam gets back to half guard.
Adam makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Adam.
Adams stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Adam swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Adam is looking to cinch up a triangle. Adams throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Adam's body to avoid the submission. Adam has instead reached around Adams's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Adam arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Principo Adam!
After the fight, Principo Adam was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |
