Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kalle Kula (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Soboyt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kula's entrance music is Black Label Society - Counterfeit God. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kalle Kula! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Soboyt! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kula misses with the combination.
Soboyt is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Soboyt looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Kula looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Kula drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Kula lands a couple of decent looking shots. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Soboyt wants to hit a switch here but Kula passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Soboyt there! Soboyt taking shots to the head. Soboyt tries to get back to half guard but can't. Kula is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Soboyt can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Kula lands a nice shot to the head. Soboyt keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Kula postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Soboyt looks a forlorn figure.
Kula wants to control the pace but Soboyt is squirming around nicely. Kula working the ground and pound effectively.
That's one minute gone in the round. Soboyt regains half guard. Kula is taking a breather. Soboyt says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Kula is tying to control. Soboyt wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Kula trying to pass the guard but Soboyt defending well. Kula prevents Soboyt from improving his position. Soboyt wants to control but Kula is keeping busy and won't allow it. Kula could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Kula wants to free his trapped foot but Soboyt is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Kula is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Soboyt wants to control but Kula is keeping busy.
Kula is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Soboyt regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Kula. Kula stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Soboyt swivels though and keeps the full guard. Kula lands a couple of elbows. Soboyt wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Kula is now in half guard. Kula controlling the pace. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kula landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Kula is trying to control the action in half guard but Soboyt is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Kula passes to side control. Kula working the strikes but Soboyt uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Soboyt blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kula. Kula is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Kula wants to advance to full mount but Soboyt doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Kula might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Kula gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kula throws a right hand that Soboyt ducks under and follows up with a left that Soboyt also avoids with ease. Kula tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Kalle Kula seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kula tries to bum rush Soboyt with a series of wild strikes but Soboyt uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Kula swinging wilding here.
Soboyt forces Kula back against the cage and clinches. Soboyt pulls Kula into guard.
Soboyt seems keen to control Kula's posture. Kula throws a big right hand that misses. Kula trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Kula is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Kula with a nice head shot there. Kula wants to pass the guard but Soboyt is keeping the position. Soboyt tries to land a sweep but no joy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kalle Kula dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Kula looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Soboyt trying to control from the bottom.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kula lands a nice short elbow. Kula drops an elbow to the side of Soboyt's head. Kula is nestled in close to Soboyt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Soboyt is rocked! Kula looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Soboyt is still in real trouble! Can Kula finish him? Kula is nestled in close to Soboyt, controlling him well. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kula in particular looking to stall. Kula works his way into side control. Kalle Kula overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

It looks like Johnny Soboyt has been cut. Kula creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Soboyt is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Kula just content to control the position. Kula working the body and head with strikes. Kula scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Soboyt to see if he's OK. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kula has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Soboyt is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Kula yanks on the arm and Soboyt is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Kula.
