The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ling darts in trying to clinch and Shakespeare cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like Reese Ling has been cut. Ling closes the distance looking to clinch and Shakespeare counters with a stiff right hand. Ling has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Ling tries to clinch but fails miserably and Shakespeare connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Ling looks to clinch and Shakespeare counters with a nice uppercut.
That has opened up Reese Ling's cut even more. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ling steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Shakespeare. Shakespeare definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Ling is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Shakespeare moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Robbie Shakespeare! After winning the bout, Robbie Shakespeare thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
