With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Zenon Balaski! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Michael Johnstone and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kimura throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kimura closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Balaski quickly recovers to half guard. Balaski wants to get back to full guard. Balaski makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Balaski. Balaski looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kimura is one step ahead there. Balaski trying to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Balaski working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Kimura has passed into half guard!
Kimura looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Kimura has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kimura seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Balaski trying to control here.

Koji Kimura opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
