He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Boris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Trey Davis!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Davis takes the fight into the clinch.
Boris tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Boris tries to throw a body punch but Davis avoids it by throwing Boris back against the cage.
Davis lands a hook that snaps the head of Boris backwards.
Boris blocks an uppercut.
Davis with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

It looks like John Boris has been cut.
Boris tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Davis landing knees to the body.

Boris lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Boris performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Boris is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Davis defends it well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Davis felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Davis is not content to let Boris control the position.
Davis looks winded!
Boris uses his free foot to push down on Davis's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Davis.

Davis defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Boris.
Boris looking to finish Davis with some ground and pound. This is bad for Davis!

Boris is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Boris!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). John Boris!
After the fight, John Boris was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
