SSG 141 Barnes vs Chai PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 24 wins and 11 losses; Jake Barnes! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 18 wins and 5 losses; Leonardinho Chai! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Barnes drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Barnes (2) vs (0) Chai Barnes slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Barnes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Barnes drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Chai manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Barnes has Chai in his guard. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Barnes engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Barnes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chai swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Will he finish!!?? No, Barnes has worked his arm free - good work by Barnes!
Chai is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Barnes will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Barnes is trying to control Chai's posture but Chai avoids it. Barnes is looking to reverse the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Chai is looking to take a break and control but Barnes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Barnes is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
