Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zaknafein DoUrden! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Reginald Benjamin! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Benjamin throws a right hand that DoUrden ducks under and follows up with a left that DoUrden also avoids with ease. Benjamin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Benjamin wants to clinch. Benjamin fails with a takedown attempt. DoUrden has a takedown stuffed. DoUrden takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
It looks like Zaknafein DoUrden has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. DoUrden connects with a body shot. DoUrden shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Benjamin sprawls well. Benjamin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. DoUrden gets slowly back to his feet. DoUrden shoots and misses and Benjamin finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zaknafein DoUrden. That's going to take a lot out of him. DoUrden shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. DoUrden is breathing heavily. Benjamin misses with the combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Benjamin keeps the fight on the outside. DoUrden looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Benjamin is trying to stand up here but DoUrden is controlling him well. DoUrden is trying to control. Benjamin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. DoUrden stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. DoUrden wants to clinch and Benjamin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. DoUrden fails with the takedown and Benjamin counters with a three punch combo that has DoUrden backing up. DoUrden nods at Benjamin to acknowledge the strikes. DoUrden drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Benjamin's face as DoUrden controls the position. DoUrden in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Benjamin is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
